High-Density Recycling Vertical Balers

Recycling Equipment for Reduced Waste Output

Vertical balers are often a great choice for our clients. There are two types of vertical baler equipment: vertical upstroke balers and vertical downstroke balers. The former, vertical upstroke balers, aren't extremely popular because they require a more permanent fixture on the client’s property. That said, vertical downstroke balers perform almost the same way and are mobile, self-contained, versatile enough to process different types of recyclable materials and don’t take up a lot of space.

Vertical downstroke balers have an opening where the material is fed, called the hopper. Many of the models Complete Recycling is able to offer its clients have a hands-free loading feature. A component called a ram is forced down from the top of the machine into the compression chamber where the material is kept. This condenses the materials. The equipment then accepts more materials that are recyclable until the vertical baler has produced a bale of material that’s a certain density.

Bale sizes vary based on standard industry specifications and preference. We can equip your company with the right vertical baler model for your recyclable output. Vertical balers can produce bales from a couple hundred pounds to over a thousand pounds, depending on the material.

Types of materials than can be processed by vertical balers include:

Bale time depends on the type of material and equipment used. Sometimes several bales can be completed in an hour, sometimes less. Once a bale has been completely formed (depending on the type of industrial baler), the bale is then either automatically or manually tied with a wire or other type of tie material. Many of the models our clients use have a semi-automatic eject feature that comes standard. And other models have an optional feature that guides the wire around the bale for quick tying by a worker.

Vertical upstroke balers are another type of vertical baling equipment but they require installation, including a foundation and a pit below ground level. Because this is a more permanent option, many of our recycling clients choose to purchase vertical downstroke balers instead. That said, the popularity of the upstroke baler has declined over the years. One of the main advantages of a vertical upstroke baler is the ability to produce bales that are higher density.

Some clients of Complete Recycling have a larger output of recyclables than a vertical baler can resourcefully process. Even though vertical balers are very versatile pieces of equipment, we sometimes recommend that our clients explore horizontal balers for their facility. Depending on volume of recyclables, types of recyclable materials and desired price point, we’ll determine the most efficient baler for your business.
